Description
The 1101 combines the functions of a general purpose
CPU and an image capture board. Locating the image capture circuit on the CPU board helps ensure compliance to the timing specs of the PCI bus.
CPU
The CPU is a 233 MHz Pentium with MMX technology. The standard memory size is 32 megabytes of RAM.
Standard I/O
The Super I/O circuit provides the standard peripheral functions for
keyboard, serial and parallel ports, mouse port and floppy disk. These functions are brought to a high density connector designed for connection to the 1101TB accessory board. The 1101TB breaks out the 1101’s high density connectors into conventional connectors. They include connection for serial ports, telephone, Ethernet, mouse, keyboard, floppy and an IDE connector. The 1101TB also has an IDE hard disk and AC power supply.
BIOS
Sensoray is licensed to customize the BIOS source code. This allows us to optimize its performance for high-speed video transfers.
Enclosure
An optional enclosure is available to hold the 1101, the 1101TB and the 322 display board.
Modem
A socket is provided for an optional 56k telephone modem, model 1101M. A BIOS setup
screen allows assigning one of the COM ports to the modem. An RJ-11 socket allows direct connection to a telephone line.
Ethernet
A 10 Base-T Ethernet port and RG-45 connector are mounted on the 1101. Drivers are available
for most operating systems.
Flash Disk
A 32-pin socket is available for adding up to 144 MB of optional flash disk. The flash disk looks like a hard drive to the software.
PC/104+
The 1101 implements the PC/104 and PC/104+ standards. Three PC/104+ boards may be connected to the 1101.
322 Display Adapter
An optional PC/104+ display adapter, model 322. allows displaying frame grabber data at 30 frames per second. It has both LCD and RGB outputs. The 322 is
supplied with 4 Mbytes of display memory and supports Direct Draw.
Frame grabber
The frame grabber circuit converts video camera signals into digital data required for computer image processing and display. Up to four cameras may be connected to the board: three with composite
video and one with an S-video output. The 1101 provides four digital input lines and four output lines to control camera focus, pan, tilt and triggering.
Frame Rate
The video dencoder can transfer 30 frames per second with
the supplied software. It supports a variety of digital formats including RGB24 and Y8 that are directly compatible with Windows bit maps.
Image scaling
Under software control the 1101 can independently scale the X and Y dimensions of the captured frame. Full-resolution video may be reduced to any size down to the size of an icon. A software
selectable digital filter is available to minimize aliasing artifacts induced by scaling.
Software and Manuals
The software development kit, SDK, includes a C-language sample program that allow capturing and saving color and monochrome images. It illustrates the 1101’s scaling feature and shows how to
call the included DLL from a C program. The supplied 32-bit DLL supports interrupts and multiple DMA buffers that may be scattered within the host’s memory. The DLL supports capture directly into video memory and graphic overlays when
using Direct Draw.
A Linux driver is available from an independent source.
An enhanced development kit, SDK11, includes more sample applications. It supports Direct Draw and the ability to store a color and monochrome image. SDK11 is sold
separately for $ 95.
