Model 2652 and 2653 are members of Sensoray's 2600 series of smart I/O modules. Model 2652 monitors and controls any combination of up to 8 standard solid state relays (SSRs)and the 2653 can handle up tp 16 SSRs. They provide I/O services to a 2601 communication module, which in turn enables remote Ethernet clients to monitor and control the SSRs. The module’s micro controller communicates with the 2601 through an optically isolated serial interface. This eliminates potential ground loops and ensures error-free operation in demanding industrial environments. A single Category-5 UTP cable carries all micro controller power and communication signals. On-board, finger-safe connectors enable direct connections to field wiring without the need for intermediate terminal blocks. Two connectors are provided for each SSR, one for the line connection and one for the load. This simplifies field wiring and enables load devices to be easily connected and disconnected for quick servicing. One of these connects to the interlock voltage sources. The other connector may be used to pass through the interlock voltages to other modules such as 2610 Relay I/O modules or additional 2652/2653 modules. This “daisy-chain” system eliminates the external termination boards that are often required for interlock circuits. I/O Modules All I/O modules have on-board DC/DC converters to power module circuitry. This feature helps to prevent ground loops and associated common mode voltage problems when the I/O modules are distributed over long distances. In addition, the inter-module communication circuits are optically isolated so as to eliminate communication ground loops.

Mechanical Open-frame design has been applied to all modules in the 2600 family. Field wiring connectors are conveniently located at module edges for easy cable routing into adjacent wiring ducts. This eliminates the expensive module enclosures that are often required by competing products. Software and Manuals The Communication Module implements a high-performance, preemptive multi-tasking operating system and UDP/IP stack in firmware. As a result, it boots up in approximately one second. All of the essential standard network protocols are supported: IP, UDP, ICMP, and ARP. It employs a static IP address that can be programmed by connecting a null-modem cable between a PC and the module’s COM4 serial port. Full-featured Windows 98/NT/2000/XP and Linux libraries are available at Sensoray’s web site, along with comprehensive sample programs.
