The 303 is a Legacy product and is not recommended for new designs. The lead time for the 303 may be as long as 12 weeks and may require a minimum quantity order. Please call for availability.
Sensoray’s Model 303 is a low power CPU with several features useful to embedded applications. Its nine communication ports (six RS-232, one Ethernet, two USB) allow it to service several peripheral devices. The 303 supports up to four external PC/104+ devices.
CPU
The 303’s AMD Elan SC520 is an x86 compatible processor operating at 133 MHz. with performance equivalent to a 100 MHz Pentium. The standard 303 is supplied with 128 MB SDRAM and 32 MB flash disk. The system BIOS that resides in the on-board flash memory allows Linux or Windows operating systems to reside in the removable Compact Flash memory. Hence, the entire operating system and application programs may be updated by exchanging Compact Flash modules.
USB 2.0
Two USB v2.0 ports are available for high serial communication. The 303’s compact USB connector can be connected to standard USB connector by using our 302C3 adaptor.
6 Serial ports
The 303 has six serial (RS-232) ports supporting speeds up to 115 Kbps. Four of the ports are 3-wire partial ports and 2 are full RS-232 ports.
IDE hard drive & chipDisk
An industry-standard 16-bit IDE interface is provided to support up to 2 hard disks or one solid state IDE compatible 256 MB flash disk.
Digital I/O
Eight general purpose digital signals may be programmed as input or output signals.
Ethernet
A 10/100/1000Base-T Ethernet port is available for high-speed applications such as transmitting uncompressed video images.
Memory
The 303 supports 128- Mbytes of Synchronous Dynamic RAM (SDRAM) that is installed on the board by using a 144-pin SODIMM. A PC-66 or PC-100 compatible part (non-registered, unbuffered) with gold plated fingers is the recommended SDRAM.
A 32 MB flash memory chip that is soldered to the 303 appears to the software as a hard drive. A socket is also provided for a removable Compact Flash module. The operating system and application programs may be updated by exchanging the Compact Flash module.
Power
Only one power supply (+5 V) is required. Total power consumption of the board is 5 W.
Watchdog Timer
An I/O mapped watchdog timer can reset the CPU or it can drive an open-collector output to reset external circuitry. The time out value is 1.6 seconds.
Accessory Modules
SVGA board Model 322: PC/104+, SVGA, TV output.
PC/104 Bus Buffers
The data, address and control bus signals are buffered with 16244’s and 16245’s. This allows stacking several PC/104 boards without degrading signal quality. Most competing CPU boards do not have bus buffers.
Battery Back-up
A 220-mAH battery supplies the 303 board with standby power for the real-time clock and CMOS set-up RAM.
